Lights a success!, Rate increase, Mixed doubles, Party and other news from QATC

LED LIGHTS ARE A BIG SUCCESS!

QATC has completed the conversion to LED lights and it is a big success!  If you haven’t been to the club since the conversion, you are in for a treat.  Many thanks to board member Jim Griffis for all of his efforts in making this happen.

RATE INCREASE

Due to the huge increase in costs in day to day expenses along with current major updates, the board voted to increase the dues for the coming year.  This is the first increase since 2015.  Dues for a Single Membership will increase from $650 per year to $700 per year and a Family Membership will increase from $975 per year to $1,075 per year.  This increase will also help us move forward with future improvements.  Invoices for will be mailed out in August.  

MIXED DOUBLES / SOCIAL

The Mixed Doubles Event received interest from 14 club players, and held a night of doubles play in June and July. Both courts were used, with the teams randomly created from players having a variety of skill levels. Every player of each group was able to serve out one game in doubles play, then partners were rotated into other teams for more rounds. This was an excellent format for casual play, meeting club members and working on various tennis skills. Refreshments were available afterwards, and all players agreed it was an enjoyable, interactive event.

The next Mixed Doubles get-together will be on August 11, 2023 at 6pm to 8pm. If you are interested in attending, contact Matt (myuschik75@gmail.com) or John (johnbielinskiod@gmail.com). A sign-up sheet will also be posted at the club. Shared BYO refreshment is encouraged. Future events are planned for the second Friday night of each month. Also, if you are interested in participating in a short, one-time tennis workshop to review your stroke production, let us know.

PARTY

The club will be holding our annual member’s party in mid October.  The actual date & time will be announced at a later date.  There will be music, food and plenty of fun.  We hope to see everyone there! 

SIGNING IN & COURT CANCELLATION

Club members are asked to make every effort to cancel their court if they are unable to play.  YourCourts.com can be used to cancel courts as well as for making reservations.  Cancelling as early as possible ensures your fellow members have the opportunity to pick up the unused time slots.  Also, please remember to register on the sign-in sheet when you use a court.  Please write legibly. 

The Board will continue to monitor court cancellations and overall utilization to ensure maximum access for all.

It’s also important to sign guests in as well.  Guest fees are $10 per person for up to an hour & a half of court time per session.  Guests may play up to 5 times per year.
 
Please ensure all guests are signed in and advised of current club policies.  

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the QATC Board will be held AT THE CLUB on Monday, September 11th, 2023 at 6:30pm.  All members are encouraged to become more involved with the Club, and are welcome to attend.
