Spring Clean-up, Court Etiquette & Other news from QATC

Congrats, QATC Members, we have nearly completed another indoor season and, if Mother Nature finally starts cooperating, we can soon start enjoying the game of tennis outdoors again!

A few members are willing to schedule some outdoor league play this summer @ Chestnut Ridge Park; there is also a local app online available for those looking to join in on some ad-hoc pickup games.  Check with your League Captains for recommendations in this regard if interested.

The QATC website includes a link to a Club “Membership List” which has contact info for all members; feel free to reach out to your colleagues in the coming months!

SPRING CLEAN-UP

We have scheduled our annual Spring Clean-up for the Club & surrounding grounds for Saturday, May 31st, @ 9am.  We need as many volunteers as possible to contribute an hour or two of their time to spruce up the outdoor gardens and the common areas of the club interior.

Doughnuts & coffee (& fresh mulch) will be provided, but please bring some of your own tools for the yard work and kitchen; naturally, the more volunteers we have, the less time this yearly task will take — Thanks, Y’all !

COURT ETIQUETTE

We continue to field sporadic member complaints re: excessive noise and other breaches of tennis etiquette. Apparently, we need to remind everyone (again) of the importance of practicing common courtesy when entering/exiting and utilizing the club courts.

Please be mindful of the following:

Wait for Your Turn: If it is your time to play and there are players already on one or both courts, please wait patiently until there is a break in the action; the same applies with respect to exiting — especially those players leaving Court 2 — players MUST, at the minimum, request of those players on Court 1 if it is OK to cross. Adults playing with kids are, obviously, responsible for ensuring that youngsters are aware of and follow this requirement for common courtesy.  We also encourage those players on Court 2, when leaving the club, to utilize the rear exit if Court 1 is in play.

Keep Noise to a Minimum: When entering/leaving and utilizing the courts, please minimize the noise from your court; this applies in particular to those who are providing and/or receiving tennis lessons. Remember that players on the adjoining court do NOT want to hear constant coaching instructions shouted across the net (and, thus, throughout the entire club)!

Respect Court Time: Be aware of your scheduled court time and vacate the court promptly, when your time slot ends, to ensure the next players can start on time.  Please recall that all members are limited to a maximum of two hours of (non-league) court time per day — please respect these time restrictions.

Friendly Greetings: A simple “hello” or “good match” goes a long way in fostering a welcoming environment.Let’s all work together to maintain a friendly atmosphere that makes our club so special. Thank you for your expected cooperation — and enjoy your time on the courts — whether outdoors or at QATC!

GUEST POLICY

Guest fees are $10 per person for up to 2 hours of court time per session. Guests may only play a maximum of 5 times per year (September through August) regardless of who invites the individual to play. Please advise your guest(s) of current Club policies.
