NEW BOARD DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS
The Club congratulates new Director Pete Ryan, and welcomes back Carl DiNatale and Matt Czechowski to the Board, as per the the results of the recent QATC Elections. The Board also selected 2024 Club Officers:
- President – Mitch Stenger
- Vice Pres – Rick Phillips
- Treasurer – Jim Griffis
- Secretary – Nancy Montone
The other Directors continuing their service on the Board are: John Bush; Cindy Chynoweth; and Elaine Idzik (“Emerita”). Contact Info for individual Board Directors, and all QATC members, is on our website (“Membership List”). The entire Board can be contacted directly via email at quakeraurora@gmail.com.
Please join us in thanking past President Tom Siener for his dedicated service to the Club. Tom declined to run for re-election, after serving on the Board for nearly two decades, and as our President for the past five years. All members owe him a debt of gratitude — but Tom says he will accept a simple pat on the back, and a cold beer or two, when you see him playing on the courts!
WATER COOLERS / CUPS
In response to environmental concerns expressed by some members, disposable cups will no longer be provided for water. All members are encouraged to bring their own reusable containers. Water coolers remain available on each court and in the kitchen.
PLEASE SIGN IN!
Members are required to sign in before using the courts; this documentation is essential for both:
- liability & insurance purposes; and
- QATC Court Utilization Analysis.
We are aware that some members have encountered issues in securing court reservations for preferred “peak use” time periods of play. Recent complaints have also mentioned members reserving courts but then failing to show up.
In response to your concerns, we have been examining recent reservation information to better assess both Club court usage and current Club membership levels. We will have more information to share on these topics in the next week or two. In the interim, please make sure to follow proper procedures by:
- registering all players on the available sign-in sheet;
- registering any guests in your playing party; and
- canceling any reservation at your earliest opportunity so that the court becomes available for use by your fellow members.
GUEST POLICY
Guest fees are $10 per person for up to 2 hours of court time per session. Guests may only play a maximum of 5 times per year. Please advise your guest(s) of current Club policies.
RESERVATIONS FOR BALL MACHINE/LESSONS
We have added new items to the YourCourts reservations system, allowing members to differentiate their reservation between “Casual Play,” etc., and “Practice – Ball Machine” or “Lesson”. When making your reservation, kindly click the checkbox under “Type” and make your choice. This will similarly assist our ongoing efforts to better assess current court usage.
CLUB IMPROVEMENTS & CLEAN-UP
We have successfully remediated “malodorous complaints” in the kitchen area, by way of several measures, including the replacement of blocked and/or leaking plumbing lines. The mens’ room drywall will be replaced shortly.
We are working directly with the overseas manufacturer and regional distributor of the recently purchased LED court lights to remedy partial outages; we have also installed surge protectors to safeguard this investment. As soon as replacement parts (on order now, and fully covered under manufacturer warranty) arrive, all lighting fixtures will be restored to full wattage. Thank you for your continuing patience in this regard!
We lost a large tree from our front lawn during a near-blizzard snow event this winter. The surviving portion of the downed tree was, unfortunately, determined to be not viable and was consequently removed.
After another tough winter, we need another strong turnout by the Club Membership for our annual “Spring Clean-Up”, now scheduled for next month, Saturday, May 18, at 9 AM. We will have more information to share on this event shortly; however, we ask that you “Save The Date” and plan to pitch in — as the more people participating makes the clean-up process much faster — AND FUN!
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the QATC Board will be held at the Club on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 6:30pm. All members are encouraged to attend our regular bi-monthly Board Meetings and become more involved with the Club.
Play Well & Be Well…and Enjoy the “Epoch Eclipse”!!
